Kampala

High Court in Mukono yesterday adjourned the murder case against Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Hussein Akbar Godi to the next convenient session, citing inadequate time to hear it.

Mr Godi is accused of murdering his wife, Rehema Caesar at Lugojja Village in Mukono District on December 4, 2008. The announcement was made by Judge Elizabeth Musoke who was set to start hearing the legislator’s case yesterday. “Unlike other sessions, this session has 50 cases to be heard in 40 days, there is limited time to effectively hear and dispose of this case. I therefore withdraw this case from this session,” said Ms Musoke.

Another session
The judge informed the MP that she was going to inform the High Court registrar about the changes and request for another session to be arranged for him within the shortest period possible.

Mr Godi, who is on bail, was represented by lawyers, Mr Sam Njuba and Mr Duncan Ondimu. Caesar was gunned down on the Mukono-Kayunga Road and her body dumped near Mpoma Satellite Station. The legislator is to continue reporting to the Jinja High Court registrar once in a month for further advise.
